It has been a very long time since the Chicago Bears have gone through a stretch of quality football.
Finally, again, the team has been able to feed off teams it has supposed to in the past two weeks, winning against Houston and, this past Sunday, against Minnesota mainly with confident and assured offensive performances. With their 33-27 victory over the Vikings, Chicago now sits at 7-7 on the season, with what was a slim chance to make the playoffs having gotten beefier in the face of essentially eliminating Minnesota, who was tied with the Bears entering the game.
Games remain against the lowly Jaguars this week and the Packers in the regular season finale to settle the playoff situation, but the showing of any resolve by this Bears team should be acknowledged first.
Through wins and losses the Bears looked like only a partial team in its first 12 games, but with this late-season revival they're finally starting to look something like a complete football team and the the offense is scoring in bunches. Defensively, the Bears are still solid, though some concerns are growing, and the special teams has become trusty, particularly the work of very solid kicker Cairo Santos.
A win is a win in the NFL so never cry too hard about success, even if some fan's hopes for a better draft pick and a fresh, new quarterback (man, how about that kid from BYU...) may be crumbling with this run. Any draft disappointment aside, the Bears have found a way to manufacture some meaningful games in December and that's not something that seemed possible even a month ago.
